The Carpet Replacement Process

Carpet Installation Steps

1. Remove the moldings from doorways and other places at the edge of the carpeting. This helps to ensure that the carpeting will fit the room just right.
2. Remove old carpeting from the floor if there is any. We may take it out in small sections or in large pieces, depending on how securely it is attached to your floor. We do this carefully to minimize the dust.
3. Roll up the old carpeting and carry it out of your home.
4. Take up the old tack strips from previous carpeting and lay down new strips for your fresh carpet.
5. Remove the old under padding and dispose of it. This is always a good idea because over time, under padding can become stained and take on odors from a carpet.
6. Install new under padding on the floor. A fresh layer of under padding gives some extra spring to your new carpeting!
7. Review the measurements taken of the room before bringing in the new carpeting.
8. Put the new carpeting down and carefully trim the edges so it conforms to the dimensions of the room.
9. Use a carpet stretcher to make sure the carpet is secure over the tack strips and laid out properly along the perimeter of the room.
10. Put the doorway and wall moldings back in place.
11. Make a final check of the entire carpet to ensure that it is properly in place.
12. Request that you look at your new carpeting, walk over it and make sure you’re satisfied with the work.
