Thinking about having your countertops replaced? The process is actually pretty simple. In fact, the most difficult part is usually choosing the new countertops you want! There are so many great choices out there these days, such as granite and silestone.
Don’t forget, Elite Floors provides kitchen contracting services such as new countertop installation!
Step One: Go Shopping
Okay, this step isn’t absolutely necessary, but it sure is fun! You don’t need to go crazy, but getting a new set of canisters or a new utensil holder that’ll look pretty with your new countertop will really make your kitchen look fresh and new with that new countertop.
Step Two: Remove Countertop Appliances
It’s time to move the coffee maker, toaster oven, and any other appliances you have sitting on your countertops, plus any canisters or anything else that’s sitting on your countertops. Move them to a temporary spot that won’t be in the way for your installers. Heck, this is even a good time to give them a clean so you’re not putting dirty appliances on your fresh new countertop.
Step Three: Clean out the Sink
Your sink is set into your countertop, so it will have to be taken out during the removal of your old countertop and set back in with your new one. If you’re getting a new sink as well, that’s awesome! Either way, just make sure there’s nothing sitting in the sink or on top of it.
Step Four: Remove Things Stored in Lower Cabinets
During the process of removing your old countertop, it’s quite possible that dust will fall onto whatever you have in those lower cabinets. For easy cleaning purposes after installation, removing what you have in those cabinets will make life easier. Also, if there’s anything really breakable in there, you’ll want to remove it so it’s not jostled and broken during the process. At Elite Floors, we work as gently as possible, but you never know how something could be positioned to fall in one of those cupboards when your old countertop is pulled off.
