Flooring trends vary quite a bit by location. If you’re in a colder climate, for instance, you’ll find a lot more carpet than you would in a warm climate like here in Fort Worth. Of course, that doesn’t mean we hate carpet here – we just don’t love it as much as they do up north!
Trends also come and go. In the 90s, for instance, carpet was big everywhere, and we were laying it over those original hardwood floors. Now, everyone wants those hardwoods exposed!
We spend a lot of time with flooring here in the Fort Worth area, so we can tell you what’s hot right now, and what works the best for the area.
Best & Most Popular Flooring Types in Ft. Worth
High-end laminate is really a great deal. Great-looking laminate that looks like real wood flooring is not only cheaper than real wood, but also more durable and easy to care for. Especially if you’ve got pets or children, laminate is a great option, and it’s one we’re asked about constantly. Plus, it’s got a fresh and airy feeling that’s perfect for the Texas climate in the summertime. Just throw down a rug or two and you’re done!
Tile that looks like wood is having its moment in the sun. Just like laminate that will fool anyone with how much it looks like real wood, there’s ceramic tile that also mimics wood. Sound weird? It really isn’t! It’s great because you get the wood look you’re looking for, but with the durability and functionality of tile. Use it on your floors, use it on your walls – wherever. Tile has a great, cool feel to it, even in the middle of summertime, making it ideal for Texas.
Stone flooring has always been popular in Texas. It also has a cool touch to it, as well as amazing style. We’ve had quite a few clients who used stone flooring to create really unique designs in entryways, around fireplaces, in kitchens, and more. Stone flooring is definitely something that you use when you want that southern wow factor!
Real hardwoods are, of course, still popular. I mean, if you’ve ever seen an episode of Fixer Upper (Texas proud!), you’ve seen how popular hardwoods are around here. Hardwoods will never go out of style, so putting them in your home is definitely something that can add value, and look gorgeous.
Carpet is still popular, especially for bedrooms. As much as we all love hardwoods and pretty laminates and tiles, there’s just something about swinging your feet out of bed in the morning and letting your toes hit that plush carpet. Especially if the bedroom is a kid’s room and he or she spends a lot of time playing on the floor, carpet can be much more comfy and cozy than something hard. Carpeting also comes in handy if you’ve got a big, open space, and the sound reverberates around your room. Having carpeted spots is a good way to reduce that noise.
